Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350℉ (175℃) and line a baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar; whisk until smooth.
  4. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture, whisking until homogeneous.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in chopped dark chocolate, dark chocolate chips, and mini semisweet chocolate chips.
  7. Let the dough rest for 5-10 minutes.
Baking
  1. Use a cookie scoop to place dough balls, about 2 tablespoons each, onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  2. Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top of each dough ball.
  3. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden and centers look slightly underbaked.
  4. Sprinkle cookies with more flaky sea salt immediately after removing them from the oven.
  5. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a couple of minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking can prevent excessive spreading. Use high-quality ingredients for best results. Customize with nuts or caramel pieces for added texture.
