Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 pound fresh asparagus Select vibrant and slightly firm spears for best texture.
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil Adds fruity richness to the dish.
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar Use aromatic and thick balsamic for depth of flavor.
  • to taste salt
  • to taste freshly cracked pepper

Method

Preparation
  1. Wash the asparagus under cold water to remove any dirt.
  2. Snap off the tough ends of each spear.
  3. Heat a sauté pan on medium with 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
Cooking
  1. Add the asparagus to the pan, followed by a pinch of salt and pepper.
  2. Sauté the asparagus for about 5 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. When the asparagus is bright green and fork-tender, add the balsamic vinegar.
  4. Gently stir to coat each spear, allowing the vinegar to thicken for 1 to 2 minutes.

Notes

For extra flavor, incorporate minced garlic or shallots while sautéing. A sprinkle of freshly grated Parmesan cheese before serving adds a creamy contrast. Consider adding red pepper flakes for heat.
