Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In an electric mixer, beat together the room-temperature unsalted butter, sugar, and packed brown sugar until fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
- Reduce mixer speed and mix in the large egg and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and sea salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, blending until you can no longer see flour.
- Gently fold in the unsweetened chocolate chips.
- Using an oversized tablespoon, drop dough balls onto a non-stick baking sheet, spacing them a few inches apart.
Baking
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Let the cookies sit on the baking sheet for an additional 20 minutes after removing from the oven.
Notes
Chill the dough for a thicker cookie. Experiment with different types of chocolate or add nuts for extra texture. Be mindful of baking time; edges should be golden while centers remain soft.
