  • 0.5 tsp Baking Soda Helps your cookies rise, giving them the perfect structure.
  • 0.25 tsp Sea Salt Enhances the flavors, balancing the sweetness.
Wet Ingredients
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted Butter (room temperature) Adds richness, making the cookies tender.
  • 0.5 cup Packed Brown Sugar Contributes to the chewy texture and imparts a deep, caramel flavor.
  • 0.5 cup Sugar Adds a delightful crispness.
  • 1 large Egg (room temperature) Binds the ingredients together, creating a moist cookie.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Brings warmth and depth to the flavor profile.
Chocolate Chips
  • 1.5 cups Unsweetened Chocolate Chips The star of the show, adding that unmistakable chocolatey goodness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In an electric mixer, beat together the room-temperature unsalted butter, sugar, and packed brown sugar until fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
  3. Reduce mixer speed and mix in the large egg and vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and sea salt.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, blending until you can no longer see flour.
  6. Gently fold in the unsweetened chocolate chips.
  7. Using an oversized tablespoon, drop dough balls onto a non-stick baking sheet, spacing them a few inches apart.
Baking
  1. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
  2. Let the cookies sit on the baking sheet for an additional 20 minutes after removing from the oven.

Notes

Chill the dough for a thicker cookie. Experiment with different types of chocolate or add nuts for extra texture. Be mindful of baking time; edges should be golden while centers remain soft.
