Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 large large apples Choose crisp varieties like Granny Smith or Fuji.
  • 1.5 cups caramel baking bits These melt easily for coating.
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream Helps create a velvety caramel texture.
  • crushed nuts or sprinkles Optional topping for extra flavor and texture.

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel and slice the apples into thin wedges and lay them on a plate.
  2. In a small pot, combine caramel baking bits and heavy cream. Melt over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
  3. Fill a small bowl with icy water to help set the caramel quickly.
  4. Dry each apple slice with a paper towel to ensure proper caramel adherence.
Coating
  1. Dip an apple slice into the melted caramel, swirling to coat thoroughly.
  2. Quickly dip the coated apple slice into the icy water for a few seconds to set the caramel.
  3. Gently pat the caramel-coated apple slice with a paper towel.
  4. If using toppings, press the top of the caramel apple into crushed nuts or sprinkles.
Storage
  1. Place each caramel apple slice into the fridge or freezer to finish setting.

Notes

Use fresh apples for best results. If caramel thickens too much, add more cream to maintain fluidity. Experiment with different toppings like coconut flakes or chocolate chips for a unique twist.
