  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper For kick

For the Gravy
  • 2 tablespoons butter For richness
  • 2 tablespoons flour For thickening
  • 3/4 cup milk For creamy base
  • Salt and pepper to taste For seasoning

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 370 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Remove the cube steaks from the fridge and lay them out to warm slightly.
  3. In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and water until smooth.
Cooking
  1. Dip each portion of cube steak into the flour mixture, then the egg wash, and back into the flour mixture to coat.
  2. Place the coated steaks in the air fryer in a single layer and cook for 12 to 15 minutes, flipping and spraying with oil halfway through.
  3. While the steaks are cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour, then the milk, salt, and pepper until thickened.
  4. Once the chicken fried steak is done, remove it from the air fryer and pour the warm gravy over it before serving.

Notes

For an extra crispy coating, let the breaded steaks rest for about 10 minutes before air frying. Add crushed red pepper flakes for heat or herbs for flavor variations.
