  • 1 small head cabbage Cut into steaks
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
For the Sauce
  • 1 cup Specialty Selects marinara sauce
  • 1 link Italian sausage Remove casing before cooking
For Topping
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese To sprinkle on top

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your air fryer for 5 minutes at 360°F.
  2. Cut the small head of cabbage into 4 thick steaks and trim a small portion off the ends for stability.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and salt.
  4. Brush the oil and spice mixture generously over both sides of the cabbage steaks.
Cooking
  1. Spray the basket of the air fryer with nonstick cooking spray and place the cabbage steaks inside.
  2. Cook the cabbage in the air fryer at 360°F for 8 minutes.
  3. While the cabbage is cooking, prepare the marinara sauce by browning the Italian sausage in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the marinara sauce to the browned sausage and mix well; allow to heat through.
  5. After 8 minutes, carefully flip each cabbage steak and spoon the sausage and marinara mixture on top.
  6. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and return to the air fryer for another 5 minutes.
Finishing
  1. Check the tenderness of the cabbage and remove from the air fryer. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, marinate the cabbage an hour before cooking. Swap sausage for a plant-based option for a vegetarian meal. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
