Preparation
- Using a mandoline or a sharp knife, slice the washed russet potatoes into long, thin fries.
- Place the sliced fries into a large bowl and cover them with water. Let them soak for 30 minutes.
- After the first 30 minutes, drain the water and repeat the soaking process with fresh water for an additional 30 minutes.
- Once the full hour is complete, drain the water, and pat the fries dry thoroughly with a paper towel.
- Transfer the dried fries to a mixing bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F according to your manufacturer's instructions.
Cooking
- Add the coated fries to the air fryer basket in a crisscross pattern, ensuring they are spaced out slightly.
- Cook the fries for 7 minutes, then shake the basket or flip the fries for even cooking.
- Continue to air fry for an additional 5-7 minutes until they are crispy and golden brown.
Serving
- Serve the fries immediately with extra salt or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
Experiment with different seasonings beyond salt and pepper. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer.
