Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare the boxed brownie mix according to the packet instructions, incorporating the eggs and vegetable oil or melted butter. Bake until fudgy and set.
  2. Once cooled, cut the brownies into 1-inch squares and set aside in three equal piles.
Make Raspberry Sauce
  1. In a glass jug, combine the frozen raspberries and caster sugar. Microwave on high for one minute, then stir. Heat for another minute and stir again. Set aside to cool.
Assemble the Trifle
  1. Place half of the sliced strawberries at the bottom of a trifle dish or large serving bowl. Pour a third of the raspberry sauce over the strawberries.
  2. Add the first layer of brownie pieces on top of the strawberries and sauce. Spoon over half of the whipped cream.
  3. Spread a layer of custard over the whipped cream, then pour in another third of the raspberry sauce followed by the second layer of brownie pieces.
  4. Place the remaining sliced strawberries on top, followed by the rest of the custard.
  5. Top with the third layer of brownies and drizzle with the last of the raspberry sauce. Spread the remaining whipped cream smoothly over the top.
Decoration and Chill
  1. Finish the trifle by decorating with crumbled Flake chocolate, fresh raspberries, and a sprinkle of icing sugar.
  2. Refrigerate for at least three hours, preferably overnight, to let the layers meld together.

Notes

Enhance the whipped cream with vanilla extract. For added crunch, layer in chopped walnuts or hazelnuts. Use a clear dish to showcase the layers.
